Heavy Equipment Startup Safety Using Delay Alarm Systems
When a large machine starts, the operator often has no way of knowing if a technician or ground worker is hidden in a blind spot. A Delay Start Alarm (TGL-DSU) is the critical safety barrier needed for these moments.
The system works by introducing a programmable delay (e.g., 30 seconds) after the operator initiates the start sequence. During this time, a loud, high-decibel siren and high-intensity strobes fire, signaling everyone in the vicinity to clear the area.
Many mining and Saudi Aramco standards now require these systems on all heavy equipment. The TGL-DSU is designed to be "interlocked"—meaning the engine literally cannot fire until the warning period has successfully completed, removing the chance for human error.
